Ask the tower.
Codes, exams, payments. Type a word and the answers narrow down as you go, or scroll and open what you need.
Yes. The free exam is a fixed 12-question PPL exam on a 30-minute clock, run on the same system with the same on-screen de-brief, and there is no sign-up. The two things you don't get are a fresh draw each time (it is the same 12 questions) and the emailed copy of the de-brief.
No. When you buy, we ask for the email address your codes should go to. When you launch a paid exam, we ask for the address the de-brief should go to. That is all: nothing to sign up for and no password to remember.
They are separate. PPL codes work on the six PPL subjects and CPL codes on the six CPL subjects; a code from one will not open the other. The exam centre has a licence switch at the top: pick PPL or CPL first, then the subject.
A code is a key to one exam attempt. Buy a code, open the exam centre, pick the subject, enter the code and the exam starts. The moment you launch, the code is activated and locked to that subject, and you have 24 hours to finish and submit.
Unused codes never expire. You can buy a bundle today and use the last one next year. Once you activate a code by launching an exam, the 24-hour window starts; if the exam is not submitted inside it, that code is void.
Not after you have launched. A PPL code or a CPL single code works on any subject in its licence until you start an exam, then it is permanently locked to that subject. CPL bundle codes come pre-assigned: a Starter is one code per subject, Plus two and Complete three, and each opens only the subject it was issued for.
PPL: 6, 12 or 24 codes for $29.99, $54.99 or $99.99, each code good for any PPL subject. CPL: Starter (6 codes, one per subject) $49.99, Plus (12 codes, two per subject) $89.99, Complete (18 codes, three per subject) $119.99. A single code is $5.99 for PPL and $9.99 for CPL. All prices are in New Zealand dollars.
Codes are emailed automatically the moment Stripe confirms your payment, to the address you typed at checkout. Check your spam or junk folder first. If nothing has arrived after ten minutes, email support with the address you used and roughly when you paid, and we will sort it out.
Every exam is matched to the Aspeq sitting for its subject. The pass mark is 70% throughout, the same mark the CAA sets for its written exams.

No. The clock runs from launch to submit, turning orange with ten minutes left and red with one. Your answers and time remaining are saved as you go in the browser you are using, so if the page reloads, the connection drops or the battery dies, re-enter the same code on the same device and browser and you are back where you were. That only holds inside the 24-hour activation window.
Yes. Every exam has a question grid so you can jump to any question, and a bookmark on each one to flag the ones you want another look at before you submit.
Your score and pass or fail come up straight away, marked against the 70% pass mark. Under it is the de-brief: every question you missed, the option you chose, the correct one, the reasoning and the syllabus code to revise. On a paid exam the same de-brief is emailed to the address you gave when you launched, so it is still there the night before the real thing.
The exam submits itself when the clock hits zero and is marked on whatever you have answered, exactly as the real sitting would be.
No. Aspeq's exams are confidential. Our questions are written to the CAA syllabus the real exams are set from, AC61-3 for the PPL and AC61-5 for the CPL, with the same question counts and time limits, and each one is tagged with the syllabus item it tests. If you can pass ours consistently, you know the syllabus.
Yes. Payment happens on Stripe's hosted checkout page, so your card details go to Stripe over an encrypted connection and never reach our servers. All we receive back is a confirmation and the email address the codes go to.
Codes are digital and delivered instantly, so we do not generally refund a change of mind. If a technical fault stops you using a code, you get a replacement or a full refund, in line with the Consumer Guarantees Act. Email support and we will put it right.
It is used to send your codes and your de-briefs and to let you pick up an exam you have already started, and nothing else. No marketing, and we do not sell data. Stripe handles the payment, so we never see your card number. The full policy is linked in the footer.
