CAVOK is a defined term, not a general impression. All three conditions have to hold at once, and cloud above 5000ft is still permissible. That last part is where most candidates lose it.

Unused codes never expire. Once you launch an exam with a code you have 24 hours to finish it, which is generous for an exam that runs 40 to 90 minutes. Your progress is saved automatically if the browser closes.
